Cocky
Yesterday, in my Badminton class, I paired with a female classmate who’s, uh, not that good. It was a mixed doubles match against Sigrid and Mark, the latter being quite more dexterous than I am. As it turns out, obviously, I was not happy of what my partner was doing. I hate it when one doesn’t know what to do inside the court (as if I was not like it at first, hehe). I was acting very lazy and uninterested when…a bird was volleyed near the net and poof! I smashed it, of course. And it landed where? Well, it hit Mark. Nyahahaha!
For some reason, it somehow gave me the spirits to give the game a little ‘play.’ I also noticed that Mark was already practicing doing a slice serve. I think he was stunned when he saw me doing it before, and cannot accept the fact that he couldn’t do it, provided that he’s already played in the sportsfest and I haven’t.
We ended in 3 sets. Not bad.
P.S. Euri, I know you’re not into sports, so please bear with this post.
Fantabulous Week
I just came from the court. I watched the Volleyball varsity team do their practice. A match between the guys against the girls was ongoing. Right now, I somehow want to join na. However, my stomach going into almost unbearable pain prohibits me. Anyway, the week is yet again about to come to an end. Many things have happened, and I just have to blog them out.
- Monday: Played Badminton with Robert (a 2nd year student that’s, err.. a bit autistic) against Mr. Hannibal and my PE classmate David. Guess what, we won.
- Tuesday: Ate spaghetti then batchoy together with my classmates at the CUB (College Union Building, i.e. canteen) and had funny conversations.
(the ones in italics are actual lines)
Me: I want to play Tennis.
John Paul: Let’s play then! Ay, officer ka pala ‘noh.. (refers to the meeting of our org officers that afternoon)
Me: Oo nga eh..
Everyone laughed. It’s because I never speak Tagalog with them.
Our teacher in CMSC124 didn’t hold a class that afternoon and it didn’t escaped our minds the thought that she is pregnant because her belly really looked different when she once wore a tight blouse.
That night, I played the greatest Volleyball match of my life.
I won’t elaborate much. A down-the-line spike and about five (ace) blocks would be enough.
- Wednesday: I got the highest score in our quiz in Math114 (Linear Algebra). There were actually two of us who got 9/10. The quiz was, unexpectedly, about Matrix concepts. And I find it really ridiculous that most of us only got scores around 5. Our teacher always use a laptop and a projector when lecturing, but it was still a surprise for us when he opened a program called My Classroom Records and did the tallying of the scores right before our eyes!
Also, I was laughing out loud before class started because my classmate Schiren has this line:
I don’t care. I don’t mind. I don’t give a damn.
- Thursday: Played Badminton with Ma’am Tina (and Sir Faina, our Math114 teacher) against Dube and that Division of Biological Sciences staff who makes very funny and ‘feminific’ gestures and expressions that does not fail to make the game lively.
- Fri(To)day: Exam in Software Engineering was [no comment]. We had our first touch of Prolog programming in CMSC124.
My roommate when I was still in my first year is here at school again, paying a visit. He is presently working at a call center (who wouldn’t anyway) somewhere in Manila. Last year he also did the same thing. Look at what being single could do to a person — a spendthrift. Haha. Ati-Atihan Festival in Aklan will be tomorrow. I can’t go because none of my classmates who are from the place are not going home. I will still look forward to going there before graduating. Ehem, I guess that would be enough random thoughts for now. Have a great weekend everyone!
So Sick of Pink

Alright that’s it I can’t take this anymore. Why is it that most bloggers these days are girls who have pink layouts with either cats or ruffles and the like on it? Do they really need to comment in the ’sweetest’ way possible, like calling each other “sis”? And why is it that their domain names need to be so “cute” in a kikay’s point of view? Don’t they look forward to the future? I mean, if they would grow up, do they think it will still suit their preference? I don’t want to be mean or judgmental but I just can’t help it. With the popularity of WordPress growing relatively fast, many and many young girls are drawn to blogging and simply steal use free pink layouts out there.
In Someone Else’s Bed
Yesterday I went to Iloilo City to buy another Silberchatz (Operating System Concepts) book. Robinson’s Place was my first stop where I met Ophel, my high classmate. As we made our way to CD-R King (I bought a USB hub), she was telling me that her boyfriend is treating her differently since she came back and she found out that he already ‘has’ another girl. She said that she’ll be a certified man-hater now. Blah. I didn’t want to comment. Lol. We had lunch at McDonald’s and the coupons Mama gave me that deducts a few pesos on certain meals were put into use. It still appeared as if I didn’t present one though. After another series of my classmate telling me about her (ex-) boyfriend, we walked the walkways of town to get into D’Tops, a bookstore. As we entered the shop I recognized someone going out — my classmate Janine. The book is not available. Malas. C&E, located beside the Lopez Mansion, was the next stop. I was fascinated to see the inside — books behind glass and a front desk exactly like a hotel. Too formal or what? Sadly, they don’t have the books I was looking for either. But at least they asked for the head of our sub-department. Maybe it’ll give way to the reprinting of books by Pearson.

Without further ado,
we went to SM. I bought a Badminton towel grip and a can of Tennis balls and ate at Jollibee (metabolism sucks). We met our other classmate Naiza and together we watched National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The movie’s good. Seeing a scene in which Ben’s (Nicolas Cage) sidekick (let’s call him that way, shall we?) was doing ‘techie’ stuffs while in a bathroom cubicle to hack Buckingham Palace’s security, I can’t help (this has become a cliché for me) but think to myself if I can do any form of it in the future.
They unravel a series of clues that included the Library of Congress and Mount Rushmore. They (Ben’s family) eventually find the City of Gold, but one life was lost.
Since I wasn’t able to buy a book, I decided it would be a great idea to buy a handful of groceries. It was already almost 8:00 when we got out of the cinema. When I arrived at the terminal bound for Miag-ao, as I expected, there were no jeepneys anymore. Tension chilled through me, and I rushed to the highway with the highest possibility of vehicles going home that might pick up passengers bound to the same direction (and hopefully place too) as I am. It was a failure. I ended up in my classmate’s boarding house. Good thing her roommate — and landlady — was not there. There’s always a first time. Whatever. 12 hours after watching National Treasure, I was already back at the dorm.
Arithmetic Parser in C
Today was the deadline of our parser program in CMSC124. I feel terrible. I really tried my best to at least do a few things on my own. In the end, still, I merely copied a classmate’s code. Perhaps C, though actually easier than other programming languages out there, is simply not for me. Hope this code will help other beginners out there.
